Blog Bashing

I read in amusement about Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Dr Rais Yatim's (photo) tirade against bloggers in a speech at a book launch yesterday.

The supposedly very cultured Rais was reported as saying that bloggers should evaluate themselves before indulging in an unhealthy culture of bashing others, including government leaders, through their blog sites.

He said although government bashing in the blogsites was among the challenges faced by the Barisan Nasional (BN) in facing the general election, it was not the nature of BN leaders to resort to using blog sites to attack others in their campaigns to win the elections. "I am saying that you should look at your own heart to see if it is clean. If it is not, then don't bash others in your blogs". He signs off by saying that, "I suggest that they attend courses on good manners as good manners is Malaysian culture".

In other not so many words, he is saying that we are kurang ajar.

How bloody presumptuous can he get. Its goes to show that ministers themselves should do some homework and learn to put their brains in gear before opening their big mouths. It is no secret that we bloggers have been at the receiving end with name calling, threatened with law suits, the ISA, etc., by the powers that be and they dont need blog sites to do this.

  1. Rais Yatim is once again emitting hot noxious air from his orifice situated where the sun never shines.

It is just more bovine excreta from the BN propaganda and misinformation machinery.

  2. Capt, what a shame from a supposedly 'educated' and ' cultured' one!!!The blog-sites are needed becos of the Gomen-controlled media man! should he use his grey matter more equitably, then the blog-sites would be equally more equitable to ALL. How come he has never commented on all the lies that came out in the main media! I have saved enough to buy me the extra cuppa everyday!!! We should give him the PURDAH!!!

  4. the crap that we get over the airwaves is beyond ridiculous!
The mewspapers (all 3 english dailies) are all in the control of the Gomen, and is a mere waste of paper and ink!
My dear Minister, where else can the rakyat get pure unadulrated news?
Without this Ancient Mariner, we would be kept in the dark about the PKFZ! Bloggers have consistently posted accurately news which basically tells you that bloggers are dishing out the REAL NEWS! Heck even the GE was correctly posted!
Perhaps dear Minister, you may want to tell your boss to stop making press statements seeing that he has been lying through his teeth?????

    or his infamous " I don't know" !!

  5. He is the one that need to attend good manner course. we are good enough by stating our frustration. To the news paper boycott, sad to say; I don't buy news paper for a long long time. Why? You stated it all. Save $ & go for a drink is better than wasting on the pieces of SxxT.

  6. Rais is another worm that turneth from the same stable as CM. When I met him many years ago, he told me not to give up, to stick around as Anwar would come into power.(I was thinking of quitting my profession as I had become increasingly disillusioned with everything).

Anwar gets arrested, and glory be, what a field day for RY. Press statements after press statements, saying stuff like we need the ISA. Ask him what he wrote for his Ph.D. I worked with this man on human rights matters.

    AAHHHH!!!!!
