Kong Choy Out?

Thus screamed the headlines in today's MCA-owned the Star newspaper. (Read about it, here)

Whichever way you look at it, perhaps the man's a goner, especially since to my mind, the paper is giving him a very subtle hint to take a hike. The incumbent transport minister has given 'health' reasons as to why he wants to quit, but the man's younger than I am and he certainly looked fine the last time I saw him.

Perhaps also with the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) RM4.6 billion fiasco like a sword of Damocles still hanging over his head, he has decided that it may be 'unhealthy' for him to stick around.

What is really pissing me off is the fact that Parliament has been dissolved and the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee has still not completed its job by summoning the Attorney General to account for his role in the affair.

In the meantime, I suppose most of the money is now being spent buying votes in the coming elections.

Update at 2230hrs: Malaysiakini reports, here, that MCA deputy president Chan Kong Choy, 53, citing poor health, today announced at a press conference that he was not contesting in the 12th general election. He denied that he was forced to step down due to the PKFZ scandal. "This is a speculation which I don't want to answer," he said when asked about the matter.

Yeah, right.

  1. Congratulations Captain.

Looks like your frequent brushing of shoulders with the likes of him has worked its charm and caused him to be brushed off the crony-fattening gravy-train list.

Too many nights yam senging on the spoils from the PKZ fiasco with his fellow pirates apparently has taken a toll on his health.

Whatever it is, the losers are still the people, who will now have to wait for the next chapter of this sandiwara to unfold to see if anything comes out of the valiant efforts by likes of the PAC chairman, and the whole bunch of merry men involved this sorry sordid affair.

Brave, honest, god fearing men in Pak Lahlah land? They are as rare as the number of lifeboats on the Titanic. And sinking we are. Fast.

part of the scandalous rip-off from the port klang fleece trade zone is being used as election funds. and of course, a large quantum is being deposited elsewhere for their enjoyment.

  4. capt, he is being smart, beccos MCA is gonna get a back-lash in the coming GE. he won't be there for the party to curse his doings at the Zone.Well, with enough to last 3 generations and over, he definitely can kiss and say good-bye!! I wonder, who the next bloke would be? How to recover? Pasir Panjang cost PSA RM$16 B, and they expect to handle 14 million teus, this should give some 8 to 9% net. PKFZ? Don't ask! It had gone into the Black hole of ???

  5. Good riddance to him.
PTFZ was his Achilles heel, but he will be loaded with $$$$$$$$$$$$ and others will be able carry on where he left off. UNLESS THE PEOPLE DECIDE OTHERWISE!!

  6. Dear sir, I accidently came across your blog while making a google search using the keywords "Said Ahmad Linggi"... The image search lead to an article you made 2 years ago featuring the old mosque in Linggi... You did mention that your ancestors were buried there and they are of Bugis stock.
It happens that I am in the midst on making a pictorial story on the mosque at one of my blogspots. Do have a look at http://artmelayu.blogspot.com/
    Cheers!
