UMNO: Beyond Redemption

Quite frankly, if the ground would open up during an earthquake and swallow the entire PWTC building this week while the UMNO general assembly is in progress, I would be the last person to shed any tears.

In the first place, the UMNO that we have now isnt really the original UMNO of Onn Jaafar, which started the fight for the country's independence. After its deregistration during the 1988 constitutional crisis, former prime ministers Tunku Abdul Rahman and Hussein Onn didn't even bother to 'rejoin' the new 'UMNO Baru' of Mahathir Mohamed, clearly expressing their disgust at what took place. About a year ago, Mahathir himself quit the party, also in disgust, expecting many others to follow suit but nobody of any consequence did.

In her latest blog posting, Nini Talk has it right on the button when she writes, here, that "In the present era of openness and transparency, it becomes all the more crucial to have leaders with very few skeletons in their cupboards. As the nation's role models, they must be looked up to with the highest regard. When they talk of integrity, they themselves must be examples of it".

The so called 'UMNO' that incoming premier Najib will inherit will be helmed by misfits, devoid of any morals, integrity and with plenty of skeletons in their cupboards. Since Najib as the next UMNO president himself has many Swords of Damocles hanging over his head, this UMNO is clearly beyond redemption.

As I have said before and I will say it again, that the country's future will be decided in the next few days by 2000-odd Class F contractors and their ilk really gives me the shivers. May God help us all.

  1. To be fair, Umno under Pak Lah has been changing and evolving...but we are asking for blood! I think Tun M should be held responsible instead of the present leaders.
I have also rebutted Tun M's political logic and rhetoric.

  2. BEYONG REDEMPTION MEANS THAT THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO REDEEM BUT REMEMBER THAT THIS IS UMNO BARU ( MAMAK DET PUNYA). IT HAS NO WORTHWHILE QUALITY TO REDEEM WHATSOEVER TO BEGIN WITH. IF WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE EXTINCT UMNO STARTED BY DATO' ONN, YES! BUT AS AN EXTINCT ENTITY IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY DNA FOR REGENERATION. EVEN UMNO BARU DON'T HAVE ANY OF THE OLD UMNO'S DNA....SO UMNO BARU, NO REDEMPTION WHATSOEVER....

  4. Thanks so much for the referral!

The saddest thing about the UMNO debacle is that we Malays have been dishonoured by the party established to protect Malay honour(maruah) and interests (kepentingan).

From the top leadership down to the supreme council, to the bahagian and cawangan, stories are unfolding about the rampant abuse and corruption. It goes without saying that the grassroots are embroiled in it too!

It seems as though the whole lot of the Malays are corrupt or corruptible! It appears as though as a race we are so gullible and fall prey to materialism and all the power and wealth that it offers. All this - despite our obsession with religion and otherwordly pursuits!

What has gone wrong? Where lie the causes of the cancer of Malay immorality that UMNO represents?

  5. The non Malays have no qualms of Malays holding the highest political office, as long as the persons in office are upright, God fearing, fair and capable. The truth is, any Malaysian could be holding the highest office if he/she is capable and fair. Unfortunately, the British left us a legacy of racial divide, as they had left divisive legacies in the Indian subcontinent and other ex-colonies.
Religion is an explosive issue by itself, and when framed in an inclusive racial context, opportunities arise for those without qualms nor conscience but vested interests.
To move forward, we truly need to stand together as one Bangsa Malaysia, in unity and purpose. To achieve this, we truly need the Malays to take the lead in a paradigm shift, to reject the divisive mindsets and programs of the opportunists. For as long as the opportunists are in control, our beloved nation is being impoverished and its citizens robbed. And who should lose out more? Our rakyat who form the greater portion of the populace.
We need to move forwad as one nation, not according to the goosesteps of the opportunists and racists.

  6. Mr Ti Lian Ker, I believe, was a serving MCA MP for Kuantan during the rein of Mahathir.I do not recall Mr Ti LK voicing his objection to Mahathir's policies then.So why now as an out of favour MCA man?

It is no discovery to say or know that Mahathir is the root cause of all that is wrong with UMNO/BN and Malaysia.Abdullah made it worst by his unwillingness and incapability to make good any of the promises he made when he was given a chance to do so.Abdullah is no leader in that sense and does not deserve to even win a simple majority during the last election.

Najib is a totally different piece of cake.I fear if this country can take another even 4 years of UMNO/BN rule.

  9. I think if Lee Kuan Yew is given a free reign to govern Malaysia for just a single term, Malaysia will double its GDP, poverty will be cut by 50%, corruption will spiral down and our jail will be filled with Tun, Tan Sri and Datuk.

Of course it is just a dream but what a nightmare Malaysians are now suffering!

  10. Part 1 - The origin of pendatang:

    · Malays - come from Indonesia and Yunnan.
    · Chinese - come from China.
    · Indians - come from India.

Part 2 - Why they come to Malaysia:

    · Malays - easy life, food aplenty around those days, like fish from the river etc.
    · Chinese - looking for a living.
    · Indians - looking for a living and goes back.

    Part 3 - Pendatang's attitude:

    · Malays - the words 'relax la', 'bantuan kerajaan' and 'cukup makan' are their daily words.
    · Chinese - work, work and work but also spend.
    · Indians - work, earn and save but spend little.

Looking at the mindsets of various pendatang. You tell me is it possible to be one Bangsa Malaysia? Never! For oil will never mix with water.

If you tell the Chinese to close down Chinese schools, the children will not taught to be hardworking anymore, so they become lazy and can they ask for bantuan kerajaan?

No! Right? So let the Chinese have more Chinese schools to teach the principle of hardworking, integrity, trustworthy etc, thus others can get more shares.

Those days the government control the Chinese schools is because of communist. Now where got communist again? Bodoh!

  11. Semi Value, Najis, Hisppukidin, Bodowi……….all these idiots of the corrupt Umno government - one thing is certain - majority, a very high majority of the public does not believe anything the stupid, lying and corrupt Umno government says anymore.

This Umno government has zero credibility with the people of Malaysia and one of the reasons is the public is more knowledgeable and intelligent than all those idiots in government especially those dumb shit heads in Umno.

  12. Miya,

It's because of people like you that UMNO remain a thorn in our flesh.

Please confine your narrow definitions of laziness, etc to only the umnoputras and their ilk, including their cronies of other races.

It's bad enough that UMNO continue to 'bodohkan melayu' to stay in power but you make it reasonable for them to do so.

  14. Miya, don't be racist in your remarks. The Malays & bumis were not taught to be lazy & neither did the Chinese or Indians were being taught to be hard working in schools.

Once out of school & working, it's survival instinct for everyone. I'm not a malay but I have many hard working Malay colleague who are not rich as UMNOputras.
